As a third year fellow, he assisted lead attorneys at the Office of Criminal Conflict for the Third Region of Florida in high-profile capital murder litigation.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

As an Assistant Public Defender with the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office, Mr. Haskell represented thousands of indigent defendants who were facing serious criminal charges. Throughout this period, Mr. Haskell developed his aggressive litigation style by drafting and arguing creative motions and trying many cases to verdict.

In the summer of 2016, Mr. Haskell formed The Law Offices of Charles R. Haskell, P.A. to focus his practice on providing tailored criminal litigation that customizes results to individual client needs. Mr. Haskell enjoys the freedom of private practice because it affords him the ability to carefully select cases based on merit, need, and his own personal interest.

Notably in 2016, Mr. Haskell assumed the role of assistant attorney and co-counsel in a death penalty trial with esteemed lawyer, Carl Masztal. The defendant, with Mr. Haskell serving as second-chair, was acquitted of a primary aggravator in a preliminary trial, which moved the State to drop the death penalty in the subsequent murder trial.

In 2017, Mr. Haskell was deemed qualified for placement on the Justice Administrative Commission "Wheel" to accept State appointments on misdemeanor, second-degree, and third-degree felony cases. The committee selected Mr. Haskell because of his qualifications and experience in litigating criminal cases.
